Rotary tattoo machines are predominately lighter than traditional coiled tattoo machines. This means they can be run for longer periods with less strain on the hands. As they use and electric motor to run the needle up and down  and not springs and coils they run nearly silent. This also produces less vibration, once again putting less stress on the artist hands.

There are many option available depending on budget. They also tend to run on lower voltage than coiled machines which in turn means they run cooler.
